MAKING WORLDS, FROM THE SOCIETY OF CONTROL TO EMANCIPATORY DEMOCRACY
The work of artist Jonas Staal has focused in the past ten years on the relationship between art, democracy and propaganda. He has researched a new prison model developed by extreme right Freedom Party politician Fleur Agema entitled Closed Architecture, 2011. Since 2012 and his New World Summit (2012-ongoing), he creates temporary parliaments for stateless and blacklisted political organizations. At this moment, Staal is working in the northern part of Syria to build a new parliament commissioned to him by the Kurdish autonomous government.
