COLLECTIF_FACT

The projects proposed by collectif_fact (Annelore Schneider and Claude Piguet) aim to deconstruct the codes of visual culture. The two artists’ work has already been shown at CPG for the exhibitions Quoi de 9 / 11 photographes de Genève in 2002, Cherche Appartement (Seeking a Flat) in 2013 and the solo exhibition CITYmulation in 2010.

No Picture, No Glory, or the Triumph of Apophenia, a new video work especially created for Caméra(Auto)Contrôle, features a walk through the National Gallery in London with the assistance of facial recognition software. This biometric technology, which is adaptable to Smartphones and security cameras alike, generates a colossal amount of strategic data. The people and works being filmed find the selves caught up in a scenario devised by a technology that is endlessly selecting, interpreting, framing and retouching everything for us, while confusing the traces of what is noise and what is information.
