RÉVÉLATIONS. PHOTOGRAPHIES À GENÈVE

After its invention in 1839, photography was quickly put to work in a range of scientific, artistic, and documentary fields. Thanks to a partnership with the Bibliothèque de Genève and the participation of 11 additional institutions, the exhibition Révélations offers a survey that goes from the first daguerreotypes of Jean-Gabriel Eynard to works produced today, taking in along the way archeological explorations, scientific imagery, and humanitarian initiatives, as well as the urban archives and photography of Genevan public collections. This show allows us to understand the role photography plays at the heart of institutions conserving it, and appr ciate the depth and breadth of the uses which a polysemous medium in constant flux is put to.

During the event, CPG is featuring a new piece in dialogue with Caméra(Auto)Contrôle.
