AMAZONIE
LE CHAMANE ET LA PENSÉE DE LA FORÊT
The new MEG exhibition highlights the museum’s exceptional Amazonian collection and explores the mythological and animist world of the native peoples of Amazonia.
Photography plays an important role in the show, with the historic photographs of George Huebner and the Russian baroness Nadine de Meyendorff, or the images done in the field by the ethnologist René Fuerst and the conservator Daniel Schoepf. Contemporary photographers like Paul Lambert, the famous Brazilian photographer Claudia Andujar, first presented in 2010 in CPG in La Revanche de l’Archive Photographique, and the Genevan photographer Aurélien Fontanet take us into the very heart of Amazonian populations.
